Tailey Whaley, by Charles Boyle

Mean young whales bully and ridicule Tailey Whaley because he is "different". He was born with a tail so huge that he can clap it atop his head like a wing, and fly. Later in life he uses his powerful tail to save his pod from whale hunters. Now, everyone wants to be his friend. However, he leads the mean whales to understand "learn" and "earn," that one must learn how to be a friend, and then earn friendship. Our hero's tough actions are messages against meanness and intolerance, replacing bullying with kindness and understanding.

The Suncoast Council of the Girl Scouts of America has developed a workshop on bullying, tolerance and diversity around this book. Review groups have approved the author's readings in public schools and in those of the Jewish and Christian faiths. The end pages provide lines for listing a child's friends, thus making the book "a keeper," a memento of the friends of childhood.

"Tailey Whaley" is also available as a hard cover, full color printed book. It retails for $14.95 in stores and on Amazon.com and bn.com. You can order it here for $13.00 ($ 14.00 outside the United States). Shipping and handling are included. Books are shipped via US Mail/book rate.

Each book will be signed by the author and bear an autographed sticker on the cover. If you wish to provide a short inscription for the author to use, please provide it in the "Other:" box.
